Yeah, totally unnecessary to send the runner there


I, too, thought the announcers missed an opportunity to bring that up, but in general I think that announcing crew is pretty solid. I always liked Michelle Smith in the booth.

I guess the argument for sending the runner there is that being aggressive could cause the defense to throw the ball around and getting that first run across could build momentum for a potential big inning.
